Day 178 – End of Iran, Holiday on Qehsm

Day 178 – Qehsm Island, Hormozgan Province, Iran

I arrived in Bandar Abbas on the Persian Golf finally after 10 Weeks in Iran I wanted to do something I ve never done before. Took a spontaneous Boat trip 40 Minutes to the Island Qehsm for some relaxing/ wandering around holiday. It was mostly rolling One hour, Eating, rolling, sightseeing, rolling, taking a nap on the beach, rolling, find a Camp and relax. I had no internet during that time which was a nice detox for my online-addiction.

Some experiences standing out though. My first night I slept on a Mountaintop which was ragged off to a Plato to dry fish on it. Only people who smelled something like this before can imaging how it stunk. I arrived up there by instinct like always, after I was not allowed to camp in a Palmgarden, (Dangerous Snakes, told me the Landlord) anyway. I took the dirt road into the next Valley when i spotted a way uphill. Uphill promise usually a nice View, and I am a sucker for it! While reaching the top I noted some workers, visa verse, collecting the dried fish. I said Hello to the guys from Pakistan who spoke even less Farsi than I do but the Vibe was good. Took a place on the edge of the plato where no fish was and the view descent. I set up camp while the sun sunk down the horizon bloody red like the full moon on opposite site rise. The workers came over after work for a chat and we set in front my tent eating cookies, showing pics, listen to Pakistani music and smoking a pack of cigarettes, which I have always in my panniers for upcoming situations.

Next Day was just wandering always following the tailwind along the coastline. I meet Mr. P. a fellow Biketourero from Germany who passed me the opposite direction. We joked and shared stories of our journeys while a group of Dromedary came out of the bushes and crossed the surrounding street. Mr. P. went on to catch his ferry to Dubai and I followed the wind.

Sat down on the beach close to the Pear where boats leaving to the island Hengam which I heard good things about swimming with dolphins there. I thought about to catch one of the tiny boats but I felt asleep while thinking about it. Woke up and had one hour left till sunset, so no Hengam today. In the Seafood Restaurant nearby, I picked up to portions of grilled fish with rise and left to find a nice place somewhere on the beach was my Goal.

After some attempt of nothingness I followed a dirt road along the coast (always a good sign). Behind a dirt wall I shared the path with some Streetdogs which are on their way to use the low water for scanning the beach for food. Found a single tree to put my tent underneath during the sinking sun, when a man approached me from the distance coming by.

He was dressed in good Fashion, English on Point so unusual for that area. Even more outstanding was that he spoke German to me while I was looking at him confused as sh*!. Mr. M. is Iranian, lived 25 years in Germany, 10 years in the US and now is building up a sustainable Seaweed Farm. He tries to develop for that region and the People an independent way to use the sea as a source of income with a low amount of investment needed up in front. The next Day I followed the dirtroad 1 KM to it End where the Farm is located. I got shown around by Mr. M. who told me about the difficulties to open the Peoples mind for that way of work but the reward could be huge.

Back on the Road I thought a lot about all this great Ideas by People I met in this Country and I wished I had 1 Million Dollar in my Pocket just to spread around and Boost these Diamonds along the way. — If you have a Million, contact me, I know plenty of options in this country šŸ˜‰
