Day 217 – Masirah Beach Camp, Masirah Island, Oman
Take a look on the map and you will spot one big Island right to the east coast of Oman in the Indian Ocean. Surprisingly Friends and fellow Biketravellers Magda and Manu are there to teach Kite Boarding in a remote Lagoon.
There are two ways to get on the Island, first pay 5 Rial (12 Euro) for a one hours ferry ride or approach the person who is in charge on one of the Cargo ferries and ask for a free ride. So always the free and more fun one. Dali and I squeezed our bikes at the end of the deck between the cabin, Kitchen and drying Landry of the crew. An hour later we arrived in the main town Hilf where we first feed ourself in a restaurant after that hard work day, stashed up food and cycled down the coast. We passed the village Sur with their nice shiny mosque, simple houses made from metal sheets and the Diesel Power plant in the background. In the evening after a 40 KM ride we arrived at the Beach Camp where we happily met Manu and Magda again after the Christmas Party in Ras al Hadd.
I spend the most time there relaxing, taking naps here and there on the beach, in the shadow of a roof which was made out of stuff from the ocean. I also worked on the Blog and fixed my Bike while the other Guys went out with Sal, a funny and badass fisherman, to shot some fishes with harpoons for diner. We got all sorts of fish in different variates as well as craps from the BBQ which are more like a snack, but a good one.
