Day 231 – Sleeping in Parks

Day 231 – Mirbat, Oman

The noise of singing birds and the rising sun woke me up. I deeply breathed in and out to inhale the smell of wet grass, it felt like sleeping in the warm summer of Europe. I reached to my left, opened the zipper, looked up and saw the coconut palm I was sleeping under.

The Day before Dali and I arrived in Mirbat for the last night of camping before heading to Salalah in the south of Oman which is a tiny bubble of tropical climate with plantation of bananas, papayas and coconuts. It is a total different feeling to see coconuts palms, the ocean has a turquoise colour and the beaches are white, truly it feels more like arriving at a different continent after this 1100 km ride through the desert down south.
This Park is huge in a triangle shape, each side up to 400 meters long create a feeling of a little oasis. It was the second time within one week that we slept in a nice park like that. The guards are amazingly relaxed after a short chat and explaining what we are doing we were always welcomed to bring our bikes inside and sleep there.
