Day 235 – Salalah, Oman
What makes Salalah so special and famous? A few things like the monsoon in the Summer which brings rain from India over the ocean until the Jabal Samhan Mountains behind the city where the big clouds transform into rain. This water is the source for the massive plantation of coconuts palms, banana and papaya plants.
Cows, really?
But unknown for the most people are the amount of cows living here. Yes right, cows. Think of a combination of Coconut palms, white beaches, turquoise water and cows. That’s exactly what happened to Dali and me as we made a trip out of town along the coast to check out the beaches and cliffs south of Salalah. Left and right from the road were group of cows, I told Dali: later I have to photograph this unusual scenery. It got even better, on the beach. It looked like a scene in the Caribbean with white sand, coconut palms and colourful, clear water. The only thing what was off, were the 20 cows trying to hide in the shade under the palm trees. The unexpected is always the most interesting.
